Project Description

The Bandstand in Wandle Park Croydon had previously been demolished and Lost Art Limited were commissioned to produce and install a replacement bandstand. Examination of the historic documents, such as the postcard included in the slideshow showed that it was a classic Pattern 224 style bandstand from the Glasgow firm, Macfarlane and produced at their famous Saracen Foundry.

Lost Art Limited carry a number of MacFarlane Company catalogues in their archive, as well as other documentation. In addition, having worked on a number of similar bandstands, we also carry a number of patterns for the casting of replacement components.

In addition to the production and installation of the bandstand, Lost Art also supplied a number of our classic, Edwardian style Cartmel Benches , along with a considerable amount of decorative fencing and knee rail, as can be seen in the image sequence.
