A Victorian design of border edging, intended to delineate areas of the garden, help to maintain a sense of order, yet providing visual appeal. This traditional item appears in The Victorian Garden Catalogue and was provided by several leading companies of the day offering decorative ironwork.
The effect is produced by twisting square bars of iron and then bending them into the hoop shape. As the iron is worked rather than cast from molten metal it is therefore an example of a wrought iron product.
For a combination of simplicity and convenience of installation and in order to fulfil the edging function more effectively, we fix the individual hoops onto metal plates.
The hoops and panels are given a base coating of corrosion protection prior to being powder coated in black and properly maintained, will give many years of sterling service in any location and should not be confused with lightweight, lower specification products that might be available elsewhere.
Items are electroplated prior to being powder coated in black as this offers maximum corrosion protection and minimum maintenance requirements.

The image below shows our twisted border ending installed over 15 years ago at Smithills Hall, a Grade 1 Listed Building on the outskirts of Bolton. It is viewed through some of our Victorian Gameproof Fencing.
